Mission & about the project

ERARTA is the biggest global project in Russian contemporary art; its principal part is the Erarta Museum in St. Petersburg. At the heart of Erarta lies a totally unique approach to both the art and the viewer, a desire to build a new relationship system between people and art. The most important person at Erarta is the viewer and all our activity is aimed at growing the number of people who love and understand contemporary art. This is because we love art ourselves and we believe that love of art can make any individual’s life more interesting, fulfilling and ultimately, happy!

A must-see attraction in Russia

Erarta opened its doors in 2010 and in just 8 years has become an important landmark, a compulsory part of discovering St. Petersburg or gaining insight into modern Russia. In just its third year of existence, Erarta made the list of top 10 museums in all of Russia in the Trip Advisor Travellers’ Choice Awards, from the fourth year onwards, Erarta has been listed as a “top sight” of St. Petersburg by the Lonely Planet Travel Guide and in 2015, Erarta became the only contemporary art museum in Russia to have been selected to participate in the Google Art Project.
